Work we do alongside the software
Software is only half of running things well. These are the three ways we help set up the other half.
01 · For owner-operators
Business operations setup
For cleaners, trades, tutors and small clinics. We map how the work actually runs, from the first enquiry to the paid invoice, then set up scheduling, quoting and invoicing, spend into Xero, and the records you need to keep. We use the tools you already own where they fit and H.O.S. apps where they do not.
Good for: a business of one to five people that currently runs on memory and a phone.
Not for: a business that wants everything in one cloud suite, or one that already has someone keeping it straight.
What you get
- A one-page map of how your business runs
- The working setup on your own devices, connected to Xero
- A runbook and a 30-day check-in
02 · For families
Household systems setup
For families who want the admin under control. The budget and a daily forecast in Ledger. Every possession and receipt in Home Inventory, so an insurance claim is a search rather than a scramble. The kids' activities staged by age in Kids Activity Planner. Everything is set up on your own devices and the data stays with you.
Good for: a household with two working adults and more admin than evenings.
Not for: a household that wants everything synced to everyone's phone through a subscription, or one person who only needs a budget app.
What you get
- A setup session at home or over a call
- Your existing data entered or imported
- A one-card routine for keeping it current
03 · For clubs, families and small businesses
Small apps, built to order
A single-purpose app for a club, a family or a small business, built the way the H.O.S. apps are: local-first, small enough to explain, and kept small enough to hand over. Court Captain started as one tennis club's scheduling problem.
Good for: a recurring job that a spreadsheet has outgrown.
Not for: anything that has to run on a server for hundreds of people, or a job a spreadsheet still handles fine.
What you get
- A one-page scope with a fixed price
- A working app, delivered in stages you can use as they land
- Your data in an open format you can take with you
Questions
Before you ask
Remote or on site?
Either. Most of the setup call and the walkthrough can happen over video; the initial map and a household setup session are often easier in person if you are in Melbourne.
How long does an engagement take?
The quote says exactly how long before you commit to anything. A household or business operations setup is usually done within a couple of weeks of the first call; a small app built to order depends on its scope.
What if it does not stick?
That is what the 30-day check-in is for. We adjust the setup, not just explain it again.
How does pricing work?
A fixed price agreed before we start, from the scope in your quote. No hourly surprises.
Do I need to already use the Human Operating System apps?
No. We use whatever you already have where it fits, and bring in an H.O.S. app only where it is genuinely the better tool.
How an engagement runs
Four steps, in writing
-
01
A 30-minute call
About what you are trying to run and where it sticks.
-
02
A fixed-scope quote
One page. What is included, what is not, and the price.
-
03
Setup and handover
On your devices, with the people who will use it in the room.
-
04
A 30-day check-in
To adjust whatever did not stick.
Not sure which one fits?
Tell us what you are trying to run and we will say which, or neither.
